A workshop on uncertainty in sampling was held 12-13 April 2007, Pharmakon Conference Center, Hillerød north of Copenhagen, Denmark
The workshop included lectures on methods and tools for estimation of sampling uncertainty, demonstration of practical examples and practical training with own or organiser provided data.
The workshop was intended for those involved in the planning or evaluation of sampling for monitoring or control programmes and for those evaluating data that might have been affected by the sampling step.
In principle, the methods and tools are applicable to sampling of all matrices (water, waste, ore, soil etc.) for all purposes (environmental monitoring, site investigations, product quality control etc.).
The attendees were analytical chemists, environmental investigators, regulatory and industrial production controllers, assessors of environmental data and as well as other persons involved in planning, interpreting or evaluating sampling programmes.
